A Letter From the Governor

Welcome to the official website of the Northeast Junior State of America!

On high school campuses across the country, there are students concerned with what is happening around them -- students who are interested in politics and government, foreign affairs, the law, and education. The Junior State of America (JSA) was created by and for these students. Since its inception in 1934, more than 500,000 student members have become active, informed citizens through the Junior State.  Whether you are a new member, a JSA veteran, or are simply interested in learning more about our stellar year-round program, this website can serve as an important tool.

Now that the second half of our JSA year is well under way and we’ve held two of our three annual conventions, it may seem like things are slowing down here in the Northeast.  However, the next few months promise to be the best yet.  Between the many upcoming local mini-conventions, our two Regional events in Boston and New York City, and Spring State in April, there is a lot to look forward to.  Now that the election season is fully underway, it is a great time to learn more about the candidates running for elected office and take the JSA experience into your own hands.  I encourage you to take advantage of all of our upcoming events.  For more information, take a look at our calendar of events here.

At Spring State, our third annual convention held in Stamford, CT, you will have chance the express your opinions through debate and discussion.  In addition, delegates will cast their votes for the candidates who will lead our State next year.  Spring State 2010 is themed “Life and Liberty: Reimagining the American Dream.” It will be held at the newly remodeled Holiday Inn in downtown Stamford on April 10th and 11th.  For more information, visit: northeast.jsa.org/springstate10

As a State, we have come so far already in the first half of our year.  As of February, we have grown to become the largest JSA State in the nation with more than 1,500 tax paid members.  We have held two stellar conventions and are on track for a host of other exciting events in the upcoming weeks.  My sincere thanks go out to all of you who have made the Northeast State what it is today.  I look forward to seeing you at a JSA event soon!
